Carballo Library
Carballo, A Coruña (Spain)
The Carballo Library stands out in the middle of the landscape thanks to its bright Techlam® Basic Neu covering
Geometric architecture, which yielded such excellent results at the time of the Bauhaus, and which has been interpreted so well by the most influential architects of recent times, has a touchstone in luxury in the Mediateca de Carballo (A Coruña), designed in 2011 by architect Óscar Pedrós. The building exhibits the apparent simplicity of lines, all of them straight and organised in a balanced layout; apparent, because the complexity of its design is what really creates a living architecture.
To emphasise the relevance and appeal of the geometric structure, the material chosen to clad the building's interior and exterior walls opts for maximum simplicity with white.

This building is designed to interact with the user and the environment.
The Techlam® Basic Neu sintered stone, in large sheets arranged in a step-back style, creates dynamic surfaces that do not hinder the view of the whole
The pure white colour contrasts with the simplicity of the black joinery on the outside, while the interior features almost dreamy environments: its white surface evokes the pages of the books it holds. The wise choice of material is also evident in its resistance, durability and ease of maintenance.
