Sustainable solutions: LED lighting project under the pope programme with EU Funds
Levantina has made the search for sustainable and efficient solutions in every production process of its value chain a priority in recent years. One of our latest energy improvement projects is the one that implemented LED lighting in four of our production plants, yielding an annual savings of 1543 MWh. This project was made possible by a subsidy with European Union funds for having been selected in the Multiregional Operational Programme of Spain 2014-2020 (POPE), and by the participation of the IDAE and the IVACE, which totalled €41,550.30.
Energy efficiency through LED lighting
Switching to LED lighting is a simple and suitable option thanks to its efficiency and durability. This particular project focused on the production plants in Novelda, where the old incandescent and fluorescent lights were replaced with state-of-the-art LED technology. LED lighting offers greater energy efficiency by turning electricity into light more efficiently compared to traditional options. In addition, its longer service life reduces maintenance and replacement costs.
Positive environmental impact
The introduction of LED lighting in these production plants had a significant environmental impact. By reducing energy consumption by 1543 MWh a year, it contributes to the fight against climate change and promotes a more sustainable and healthier environment. In addition, the use of LED lights also reduces heat generation, which in turn reduces the need for cooling systems, thus further optimising the energy efficiency of the project.
Project supported by IDAE and IVACE grants, co-financed by the European Union as part of the ERDF Operational Programme 2014-2020.
